What is Seeds of Hope?
The Seeds of Hope program was created to minister to the young teen parents and children of child marriages. Within the Roma culture, girls between 9-15 years of age are bartered, traded, or often pressured into marriage, an on average a Roma woman will experience 14 pregnancies during her lifetime.
Due to extreme poverty and fear, many girls at this age abandon their babies, as they often have no means of providing for their child. An overwhelming 80% of Romania’s abandoned ones are Roma (Gypsy). The Roma have a high percent-age of infant mortality at 63.1 %.
Due to the hazardous living conditions and lack of education, our young families need instruction, training, medical care, and help with supplies. In all we do, Christ is glorified and recognized as our provider, so both the guys and the girls participate in Bible studies weekly.
The toddlers come each morning to the SOH program at FMN’s center where they receive baths, clean clothes, warm meals, have the opportunity to play with toys in a safe environment, and learn about Jesus and how much he loves each and every one of them!
How can I be involved?
You can partner with us by sponsoring a child from the Seeds of Hope program and changing a life forever. All of the children’s sponsors receive 4 updates per year regarding their child with stories and pictures, as well as 1 drawing per year. As a child sponsor you are welcome (and encouraged) to write to your child as often as you’d like, send pictures of your family, and even gifts for their birthday (optional).
