Four years ago I could never imagine God calling me on a mission's trip to work alongside Rachel Ross founder of Forget Me Not Ministries for her love and compassion for the Roma (gypsy) people. But let me just say I have been truly humbled and blessed by following God's call. Words cannot express how just from that first trip God took me thousands of miles across the ocean to heal my heart as I worked with the children. I have seen and felt love that I did not experience growing up and so thankful for God opening my heart and eyes as I love on His precious children at the Isaiah Center. Rachel cares for 11 adorable children at the center (and praying for a larger center to house over 100 children) where they learn about God, are bathed, fed, loved and given the hope for a future.
A future to bring Glory to God as they share the love of God to their family in the Tinca village. I have seen seeds planted and hope set alive in the Tinca village from the children Rachel loves. The children are praying over each other and over their families. God is moving and I am so grateful I can be a part of His plan each year as I travel with the team to work with the children and their families. One part of the trip that makes my heart beat alive is sharing VBS with over 200 children in the village. We share about God and His hope. I love seeing the parents join us for VBS and taking Abel and Iza with us from the center as they too take part in the events. I adore Rachel's passion as the families come by the center and she talks with them and provides work to care for their family. Work that no one else will over them to show that they are loved and cared for so they can show that to their families.
I pray each day that Rachel continues to break the cycle of abandonment and abuse to the underprivileged Roma children. I am so thankful for her call to work in Romania to love God's children. I look forward to seeing God at work in Rachel and the Roma. I will continue to pray the words of Philippians 1:19 that "Through your (my) faithful prayers and the generous response of the Spirit of Jesus Christ, everything He wants to do in me (her) and through me (her) will be done."
