Please help us spread the word about our mission to better the lives and give hope to impoverished, neglected, and abandoned Roma (Gypsy) children.
Poverty is pervasive throughout Roma society, many children can be seen wandering the streets with no clothes or shoes. Most parents are reduced to begging and stealing to eke out an existence. This behavior has been passed down for generations and is only made worse by the overwhelming racism and hatred directed towards Gypsies throughout Europe. The Roma people are highly discriminated against. They live on the outskirts of towns in disease- and waste-ridden villages. Gypsies are seen as a filthy and stupid people. The discrimination extends to local agencies and schools that do not encourage the Gypsy children to go to school, perpetuating the rampant illiteracy and stereotypes about their low intelligence.
The Gypsy children of Romania are an overlooked segment of society that is saturated with abuse. Forget Me Not Ministries has created The Isaiah Center which is a nurturing Christian safe haven for the children; providing food, clothing, shelter, nurture, love, comfort, encouragement, and education. Our work also extends to parents with education programs, teaching them how to read to overcome stereotypes, life skills such as work ethic to reverse generations of extreme poverty, and bible studies to show them through faith in God all things are possible. We strive to give the Roma Gypsies the tools and faith to create a better future for generations to come.
With God's help and your support, as these children grow they will begin to understand they are not destined to repeat the past, but through love, education, and prayer they can embrace a better tomorrow. Please be a voice for the Gypsy children of Romania, share our Facebook page with your friends to ensure these children are not forgotten.
