Abel is an amazing little boy that stole our hearts as we first began doing outreach programs in the Roma village in the summer of 2006. Abel had a very hardened little heart for such a little 5 year old, and was angry all of the time. After we opened the Isaiah Center we began working with Abel and praying for God to melt his heart and heal his wounds, and God did just that and much more! After Abel had watched an animated version of the life of Christ he began crying saying, “Mommy, they (the soldiers in the movie) beat Jesus just like people beat me.”
Of course, there wasn’t a dry eye as we watched Abel watching the story of Jesus, and saw him connect to Christ on such a deep personal level at such a young age. Ever since that time, Abel, who is now 10, has hungered and thirst to know more about His Savior. He loves hearing Bible stories, learning new worship songs, going to church with Rachel and Izabella, and has even said that he would like to become a pastor when he grows up.
Last year Abel had emergency surgery for a hernia, and one of the first things he told Rachel when he got out of surgery was, “Mommy, I love Jesus!”
It is overwhelming and exciting to see the huge leaps of progress these children have made from when we first began bringing them to the Isaiah Center. We are so thankful for God’s healing hand upon their lives and hearts, as they have all overcome many obstacles and hurdles at such young ages. They are now able to not only to accept love, but to return love as well. We pray that they continue to cling to Jeremiah 29:11 each day, realizing that God DOES know their future and that He has plans to prosper them!
